Your phone sends the texts. Apex does not charge you again for each message. Free is website send. Business adds Outlook and Gmail so the office can work from email.
Sign in, leave the Android phone on, and send from the website. On Business, the same phone can put replies into the office inbox and send your email answers out as texts.

Open the app with your Apex account and leave that Android phone on.
02
Write the text on the website. The phone you left on sends it.
03
On Business, when they text back it can land in Outlook or Gmail.
04
On Business, reply in email. The phone sends that reply as a text.
You do not rent a number from Apex. People see the number on the SIM in your gateway phone.
You write it on the Apex website (or, on Business, reply in email). Apex queues it for the Android phone you paired. That phone sends the text on the mobile plan you already pay for. The person receives a normal SMS from your phone’s number.
Both plans use the Messages desk on the website. Free is website send only. Business adds Outlook and Gmail in the loop: replies can land in email, and answers from email go out as texts. Business also allows more texts, a second phone, more staff logins, and a Transport Planner key.
On Business, Apex connects your texts to the email your office already uses — Outlook, Gmail, or any normal mail app. When someone texts back, the reply can land in that email thread. You answer in email, and Apex sends your reply out as a text. They just see a normal message on their phone. Businesses want this so staff stay in the inbox they already live in — no jumping to a separate SMS tool for every reply, and the conversation stays with the company, not locked on one person’s phone.
Sending texts from your own phone on your own plan is allowed wherever SMS is allowed. Phone companies care about spam — not that you used Apex. Ask people before you text them, honour STOP, and stay inside fair use. Free allows up to 200 texts a day and Business up to 800. The phone sends one text at a time with a short pause, so it feels like normal phone use.
No. Texts leave from the SIM in your Android phone. You do not rent a number from Apex. You still need permission to message people, and you should keep a record of that and honour opt-outs.
Leave it powered on and signed into the Apex SMS Gateway app while you want to send or receive. If the phone is offline, new sends wait until it comes back online. The Messages desk shows whether the phone is online.
Not today. The gateway app is Android only. Apple does not allow the kind of SMS control the gateway needs, so iPhone support is not available.
No. People see the phone number on the SIM in your gateway phone. Custom names or branded sender IDs are not part of Apex — that is how we keep texts on your own phone with no extra fee per text from us.
Yes. Cancel in Billing (Stripe Customer Portal). You keep Business features until the end of the paid period, then the company returns to Free. Your history stays. Complimentary Business can also be moved to Free by an Apex platform admin.
