Frequently asked questions

Named brand SMS companies charge you for every text. Apex does not. Texts go out on an Android phone you already pay for, so Apex never adds a fee on top of each message. Free is website Messages. Choose Business when your team wants Outlook or Gmail in the loop, more texts, or a second phone. New accounts are invite-only for now — write to us if you need access.

On Business, Apex connects your texts to the email your office already uses — Outlook, Gmail, or any normal mail app. When someone texts back, the reply can land in that email thread. You answer in email, and Apex sends your reply out as a text. They just see a normal message on their phone. Businesses want this so staff stay in the inbox they already live in — no jumping to a separate SMS tool for every reply, and the conversation stays with the company, not locked on one person’s phone.

No. Free is for sending from the Apex website: write a text, see history, manage your phone. Outlook and Gmail working with texts is a Business feature. Start free, then upgrade when the office is ready to work from email.

Sending texts from your own phone on your own plan is allowed wherever SMS is allowed. Phone companies care about spam — not that you used Apex. Ask people before you text them, honour STOP, and stay inside fair use. Free allows up to 200 texts a day and Business up to 800. The phone sends one text at a time with a short pause, so it feels like normal phone use.

No. Texts leave from the SIM in your Android phone. You do not rent a number from Apex. You still need permission to message people, and you should keep a record of that and honour opt-outs.

That is how many staff can sign in to your company on Apex — not how many people you can text. Free includes 3 logins. Business includes 15. You can still send texts to as many customers or contacts as your monthly and daily text limits allow.

Yes. Cancel in Billing (Stripe Customer Portal). You keep Business features until the end of the paid period, then the company returns to Free. Your history stays. Complimentary Business can also be moved to Free by an Apex platform admin.

Free uses one Android phone to send texts. Business allows two — for example a spare handset. If you are at the limit, remove a phone on Devices before pairing another.

Yes. Your plan sets how many texts you can send. On the website you can enter several numbers in one go. The phone still sends them one by one with a short pause after each, so a large list goes out steadily.

No. People see the phone number on the SIM in your gateway phone. Custom names or branded sender IDs are not part of Apex — that is how we keep texts on your own phone with no extra fee per text from us.

Not today. The gateway app is Android only. Apple does not allow the kind of SMS control the gateway needs, so iPhone support is not available.

Android 7.0 (Nougat) or newer. Install the Apex SMS Gateway app from getapexsms.com, pair with a code or a company login, and keep the phone online while you send.

Yes. Open Messages to see your conversations. The phone reports when a text is accepted. The phone-online indicator on Messages shows if the gateway handset is connected.

Yes. Replies show in the same Messages conversation on both plans. On Business, those replies can also land in Outlook or Gmail so you can answer from email and they get a text back.
